Robert Reffkin was raised by a single mother and grew up with limited financial resources before earning degrees from Columbia University and a Stanford MBA, building a career at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey before turning to entrepreneurship.
In 2012, Reffkin founded Compass, a real estate technology company aiming to modernise the traditionally fragmented residential real estate industry through better technology and agent support tools.
