๐Ÿ“– Biography

Belcalis Marlenis Almรกnzar was born on 11 October 1992 in the Bronx, New York, to a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother. Before pursuing music, she built a large social media following through candid, comedic videos, which she leveraged into a role on the reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York.

In 2017 Cardi B released "Bodak Yellow," which became the first solo female rap song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in nearly two decades, without major label backing at its debut. The single was later certified Diamond by the RIAA for exceeding ten million units in combined sales and streams.

Her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), debuted atop the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, making her the first solo female artist to win the award. In 2020, her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, "WAP," gave her a second Diamond-certified single, making her the first female rapper in history to achieve two.

Beyond music, Cardi B has become a prominent voice in American cultural and political commentary, known for her outspoken social media presence, while continuing to release chart-topping singles and build a media career spanning fashion, television and entrepreneurship.
