Sydney Scott Sam was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, and launched his first venture in 2011 while still at university โ a stand-up comedy, spoken word and live music show that drew strong audiences but was not financially sustainable. The experience taught him early lessons about building something people wanted, even when the business model still needed work.
In 2014, working from a dining table in Dansoman with a laptop and a small team, Sam founded Workspace Global, a tech-oriented brand communications firm helping African startups and established organisations with brand identity, design, digital marketing and web development. Operating a roughly 70% virtual working model long before it became mainstream, Workspace Global positioned itself as a subscription-based alternative to freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, offering businesses ongoing access to a full creative team.
A decade later, Workspace Global has grown into a pan-African creative platform that has developed and scaled over 500 brands, connecting hundreds of African businesses to remote creative talent across the continent while creating remote work opportunities aimed at addressing Africa's unemployment gap. Sam has been named to Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 and featured on CNN and CNBC Africa, and has consulted for the World Bank, the United Nations, C40 Cities and MEST Africa, alongside serving as Marketing Director for Africa Leadership Group's The Room in partnership with Mastercard.

- An early failed venture can still teach lasting lessons.. His unprofitable comedy show experience shaped his later, more sustainable approach to Workspace Global.
- Remote-first models can work well before they become fashionable.. Workspace Global's roughly 70% virtual working structure predated the wider remote-work shift by years.
- Sustained focus compounds over a decade.. What began as a five-person team at a dining table became a pan-African platform only after ten years of continuous building.
