Stacy Brown-Philpot was raised by a single mother in Detroit and studied her way to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, later earning her MBA from Stanford. After working in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers, she joined Google in 2003.
Over nearly a decade at Google, Brown-Philpot led global operations for Search, Chrome and Google+, headed online sales and operations for Google India, and founded the Black Googler Network, a key initiative for Black employee representation at the company.
In 2016 she became CEO of TaskRabbit, making her the first Black woman to lead a Silicon Valley technology company. She guided TaskRabbit's 2017 acquisition by IKEA and its expansion into over 100 markets worldwide before stepping down in 2020 to help lead SoftBank's Opportunity Fund, and later founded her own investment firm, Cherryrock Capital.
