Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman was born on 1 June 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, and developed an early interest in acting, winning a statewide drama competition as a child. He served four years in the US Air Force before pursuing acting seriously, moving to Los Angeles and later New York, and spent years working steadily but without major breakthrough, including a significant period as a cast member on the children's television programme The Electric Company during the 1970s.
