📖 Biography

Bob Collymore was born in Guyana and raised by his grandparents before building an international career in telecommunications, eventually joining Vodafone and later Vodacom before taking on his defining role in Kenya.

In 2010, Collymore became CEO of Safaricom, Kenya's largest telecommunications company, taking on leadership at a pivotal moment as mobile technology was beginning to transform financial access across East Africa.

Under Collymore's nine-year leadership, Safaricom oversaw the explosive growth of M-Pesa, the mobile money service that gave millions of previously unbanked Kenyans access to financial services for the first time, becoming one of the most successful mobile banking initiatives in the world.
